Book Review: Rawsome by Brigitte Mars

Rawsome-Brigitte MarsRawsome is a wonderful raw food book and different then most of the raw food books on the market.  What makes this book stand out is the wonderful raw food encyclopedia that is contains. This book really goes into detail about the nutritional and healing properties of fruit and vegetables, grains, nuts and seeds.  Most raw food books don’t cover the nutritional value that Brigitte covers in Rawsome.

In addition to the wonderful raw food encyclopedia she also includes over 200 recipes. The recipes go from simple to dehydrated recipes but none of the recipes are too hard or complicated and best of all you should be able to find most of the ingredients in your local grocery or natural health food store.

Now not only does this book contain all of the above great features but Brigitte also includes a wonderful list of Acid forming foods as well as Alkaline forming foods. The goodness doesn’t stop there she also includes a extensive list of nutrients like Vitamin C, Vitamin K and which fruits and veggies will provide those specific nutrients.

As you can see this book is jam packed with a ton of useful information and is definitely my go to book when I am wondering which fruits and vegetables have a specific nutrient.  There is so much more to this book then what I listed above but I thought these were some of the wonderful features of this book

So you might be wondering, what is my opinion on this book?

Well I love it, as it is one of the only raw food based books that include a section that list out the nutrients and what fruits and vegetables contain those nutrients.  I use this book even more for the simple recipes that our found within and most of all I love the encyclopedia it is jammed packed with detailed information on the most commonly consumed fruits and vegetables.
