Victoria Boutenko

September 2nd, 2008 by Tanisha

Well hello all of you, it’s been a little over a week since I posted. A lot has taken place, with the most being this past weekend. I went to Chicago to see Victoria Boutenko, it was a great experience but before I talk about the event, I thought I’d share how lost I got while in Chicago.

I am from Chicago but for some reason I always get lost on the north side and downtown Chicago, I can’t figure out how the roads are built, it is so confusing. There could be 4 streets to go down and they all slant and the signs don’t seem to match or line up with the actual street, so very confusing. It’s really hard to explain, but just know I spent about 5 hours being lost in the city. I got lost on the way to see Victoria and I left an hour early, per my directions it should have only taken 30 mins to get there instead it took me over an hour and 15 mins, can you believe it. Then after the talk I got lost trying to find Karyn’s Raw restaurant, spent about 1.5 hours trying to find the restaurant and worst of all someone from the event was following me because they wanted to go to Karyn’s, I felt so bad that I had us both lost. We finally made it to Karyn’s Raw about 20 Mins before they closed, I was a bit tired after getting lost.

You thought getting lost was over, no way. I had been using my phone for directions, well guess what, the phone ran out of energy, so I was left to figure out how to get back to my hotel on my own, that took another 1.5 hours trying to find the highway and then trying to find the hotel. The worst part is that since my phone went out I didn’t’ have the hotel address, I knew the area it was in but not the address, I also remembered the street it was on, after searching for a while I finally found it.

As you can see I had an eventful weekend spending most of my time lost, but I was so happy that I could make it to see Victoria.

Victoria gave us one of her first book 12 steps to Raw food, don’t be mistaken there are two versions and she says they are both different. She also made us a Green Smoothie and it had Cactus in it, it was really good, left me craving for more. I couldn’t wait to get to Karyn’s for a green smoothie only to find out Karyn’s doesn’t make green smoothies, well she does but only with green powder, I was expecting greens not the powder but all in all what I had was great, a Peach/apple juice smoothie with a shot of E3 it was good.

So back to Victoria, Victoria shared about how her family went raw and the importance of greens, and how greens became a huge part of there life due to some problems they started to have after being raw for several years. It really opened my eyes to just how important greens are for us. I drink Green smoothies almost daily but will definitely start using even more greens then I normally do, because apparently the amount she showed us was at least 1 times bigger then what I would consume in a day.

Victoria also answered some questions from the audience I’ll share a few with you. One person asked “if nutrients could be lost by blending the food”. Victoria said that she also wondered the same and found out that not much is lost in blending the food, but also you don’t want to blend for a very long time as that might cause you to lose nutrition. Here is another question “How can you insure that you don’t have B12 Deficiency?” Victoria responded by saying that her family does not have a problem with B12 because they do not wash there produce, she believes that is the best way to get your B12.

Of course I can’t share the entire talk with you, because I believe you’ll get the most out of the information she shared straight form her, so please if you have the opportunity go and see Victoria, she has a lot of great information to share. I am so happy that I made it even with getting lost, it was worth every penny.

Well I think I’ve written enough for today, look out for more great information in the next week or so.
