Are your thoughts causing you to fail?
It seem like it has been forever since I have written but I am still here. I’ve been having some pretty long days trying to finish up my Web Hosting web site.
Today for my daily reading it talked about how our thought process affects us. I totally agree that no matter what we do if it is changing our eating habits or removing some kind of addiction from our lives if we don’t get to the root of the problem we will never fully change.
While on my journey to changing my eating habits I learned that it’s not just changing what you eat it’s changing how you think. Before going raw, when I get mad or upset, I would eat, that would be my comfort. Not to long after going raw, I realized that there is nothing comforting about raw food. It taste good, but that is it, it only gives you nourishment, it will not hide or cover your problems. I’ve learned that I have to deal with my problems I can’t eat them and sometimes that is a battle. After many months of being raw I’ve come to a point where I don’t run to food but I have to be honest it does cross my mind(old habits) and I have had some slips but I’m realizing that changing the thought process might take longer then changing my diet.
For me eating raw isn’t a diet it’s a lifestyle so I’ve decided to continue with small steps, if I have a slip that is ok as long as my next step and goal is raw. Just know that it’s about more then changing your diet it is your thought process, if you’re not ready to change how you think, you might not succeed very long. Some people lose tons of weight and then later put it back on. Most times due to the fact that the root problem was not resolved or throughly worked out.
No matter what weight loss surgery someone has if they don’t change their mindset, they will gain the weight back. I know this because I have had weight loss surgery. I noticed right after surgery that my mind wasn’t ready to restrict my food intake, I just wanted to eat. My mind was saying one thing but my stomach was saying something else. I was depressed for a while because my mind didn’t match the capacity of my stomach. By the way I had Gastric Banding.
I think it’s important to find an avenue to release past problems and frustrations and I believe we need to figure out different ways to deal with our issues instead of eating.
Just know that this is a journey, not a quick fix it is a true journey to finding out who you really are and why you have allowed yourself to suffer for so long.
I think the most important step in changing ourselves is forgiving ourselves, and most of all learning to love who we are in spite of our failures.
Consistency is key. We can accomplish anything we put our minds to but we have to be consistent, no matter what stone or rock has been placed in front of us.
I know for me I’m not trying to lose my weight fast I’m trying to learn how to eat better so that I can maintain a healthy weight when I reach that point.
While on your journey to better health remember how important it is to really dig into why you are the way you are. Find out what triggers your bad habits, what causes you to give into those addictive habits. When you figure out the root cause find an alternative way to deal with the problem, if all you need is to apologize to someone, do it. If you need to forgive yourself for past failures do it. Address the issue and from that point forward always know how you plan to deal with the problem if it comes up again.
If I feel the need to eat something cooked, I try to think of how I would feel if I ate that cooked item or I try to think of a healthier alternative but my best choice is to not eat if I’m not hungry that is my best choice, but I think until we can do this we need to have an alternative so for me if I want to eat SAD my guidelines are to eat only Veggies and so far it’s hard to find a restaurant with veggies and I don’t dare cook at home, that part of my life is over, plus we got rid of all of the pots and pans except for one, that my husband use for tea.
I hope that you have a wonderful day,
Tanisha
