What do you know about Bananas?
Bananas
Did you know that the bananas we consume today are not the the original banana that existed back in 200CE? Before we had bananas we had wild red and green bananas which were not edible, you would have to cook them in order to eat them. These Red and Green bananas have tons of seeds within it.

You may be wondering how the bananas we eat today came existence. Apparently the wild banana plants crossed paths and created the banana we eat today, but some people believe that our bananas are a result of a mutation made by men.
A banana tree is actually one of the largest herbs we have today and is not a plant.
Another surprising fact about our bananas today is that they are placed in a special room and ethylene gas is used to induce ripening. Bananas that do not recieve this gas will often be green when you see them in the grocery store, most likely they are organic. The benefit of consuming a banana that has not been ripened by ethylene gas is: Better taste, and extended shelf life.
Most people with latex and pollen allergies cannot consume bananas. Bananas contain a extremely sticky sap that can be used as an adhesive, I believe this is what people are allergic to.
Some raw foodist do not consume bananas because they believe that it is not natural, that any fruit without a seed has been altered. What do you believe?
Ethylene:
It has been said that all plant life contain ethylene to induce ripening, but scientist decided to make a chemical version, that would ripen the fruits when they want to. Basically some changes are made to our fruits so that they don’t go through the ripening stage which will allow scientist to ripen them when they are ready. This just shows how we have taken control over everything, we can’t even let fruit ripen naturally. This is just another reason to buy organic fruits and Vegetables.
For now I still plan on eating organic bananas but I find it interesting how bananas came to be and how they have been manipulated.
