What is Irradiation?

Irradiation is process where food is taken into a room and a energy source is beamed through the food. The purpose of this is to kill any harmful bacteria that may be in the food, it also has been shown to help extend the life of our foods. Another benefit per the FDA is that it inhibits sprouting and delays ripening.

What they call benefits I see it as the beginning of some new disease. This process has been known to cause problems in animals why would they introduce this to humans? This process lowers the nutrients in the food, as well as kill the enzymes needed to process the food. To be honest once a food is cooked the enzymes are gone so this is not new. Just think of how all of this processing is taking away the value of our food.

1. The animal is pumped with hormones and antibiotics
2. The animal is killed
3. The meat is irradiated (Causes mutations, loss of nutrients and nutrients)
4. The meat is packaged (Sits for who knows how long)
5. The meat is bought and cooked.(After being cooked, you can guarentee the enzymes are dead and the nutrition has been reduced due to all of the processing)

As you can see there is a long process from pumping the animal with medicine to the plate, by the time it reaches our homes it’s nutritional value has already been taken down, then we proceed to cook the meat and eat food that does not have the same nutritional value it would have had if we did not intervene with all of our drugs and radiation methods.

Check out this document for more details on Irradiated foods http://www.citizen.org/documents/ACF1A1.pdf

I think it’s sad that we as a people don’t care what is in our food, I know most of my life I was clueless about what was in my food so I’m sure there are other’s just like me.

I hope this blog will open up everyones eyes to what is going on with our food.
